The 10 virgins; Christian life lessons

Most time I hear people talking about Christianity and our believes, classifying and identifying with one that best fit the life we live.

This isn’t bad at all as we all differ individually, but we let our diversity divide us than it being a driven force for unity.

From the day of Jesus Christ till He’ll return there will never be a new form of the Gospel. Not that the Gospel of Grace or love but one Gospel which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I am not saying this isn’t part of the Gospel. All of this are encapsuled in the Gospel, and the Gospel has one center piece which is Jesus and through Him we enjoy grace, love, peace and joy. But when we take a part of the Gospel and make it our center piece, the person of Jesus gets lost in it. And this give birth to hatred between the sheep fold.

Where the grace preacher begins to hate the faith teacher, and the holiness preacher is seen as a religious person, and the prophet is seen as a blasphemer!

When this was meant to bring about love between the sheep hold; by learning to accept our diversity and love each other for that. Because we are a reflection of God, and God reflects in diversity. But when we choose to emphasize what we think about Jesus than Jesus Himself then our Gospel is wrong.

Jesus Christ ushered in grace and and all we enjoy as believers, and He is the way and the TRUTH.

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

– John 14:6(NLT)

One of such instance of this diversity is the parable of the Ten virgins.

Most time we tend to look at this story and divide them into two groups, but they are ten different diverse individuals who got the invitation from the groom individually and from different walks of life, with different cultural and societal values. But the one thing they had in common was that they were betrothed to the groom which was a king. This was what brought them together into the groom’s house. which brings them under the protection of the king[groom] servants, because they now get treated in relation to the king as they’re now identified with Him.

THis first instance signifies salvation. The fact that they were even called brides to the bridegroom in itself is grace, even before the wedding feast they were invited to the bridegroom’s home and were given unhindered access to the house. Although Jesus classified them into two groups, wise and foolish. They’re all diverse in their ways but was classified by their actions and the result which it yielded. Both groups partook in the grace and a level of faith by accepting the wedding invitation.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

– Matt 25:1-2(KJV)

The first group was more intentional by going with extra oil other than the one already in their lamp when they were invited. This oil represents the Holy spirit, they understood there will be nights they’ll need light to see and keep preparing for the coming bridegroom, so through faith they took more oil to help the last in the house before the arrival of the bridegroom.

But the second group was contempted with just the first measure without preparing for a long stay before the bridegroom shows up but chose to rely on the grace that brought them into the house. When they discovered the needed more oil[Holy spirit]; why? because now that the proclamation theater the bridegroom will soon be around they needed to get ready and prepare to go meet Him, but they needed light to do that, which unfortunately I they didn’t have. They asked around but none could give them as they only had that which could take them only. Although grace brought them in they were not fully prepared to get the full benefits of Grace.

The level of grace we can enjoy lies in the works of the Holy spirit in us as on our own we could never Fully explore the benefits of the grace that has been given to us by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ

They set out to seek more oil, but on getting back the bridegroom had returned and the grace that had made them the bride was now taken from them.

Now they realized even though they didn’t work to get there, they had to be intentionally work with the Holy spirit in order to be prepared and ready for the coming of the bridegroom. Although grace called us as we were, faith gives us the assurance in the Holy spirit’s power to prepare us and transform us into the bride fitting for the bridegroom.

NOTE: The bridegroom will never let down or change His principle no matter how much he loves the bride and the only thing that brings us before Him is holiness and righteousness. Grace might bring you into the sheepfold, holiness and righteousness makes you presentable to Him.

Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

– Heb 12:14(NLT)

In as much as we need faith and grace, we also need all aspects of the Gospel no matter how small it may seem.
